Well, time does fly! I was looking through old posts the other day and realized that I hadn't posted since November. What? Really? No way! Oh dear… sooooo... here I go restarting.
I must say that I was inspired by looking into some other blogs. One I've found is called Honey and Jam. Mix gorgeous photography and really yummy looking recipes, and you've got it. I've been cooking a lot more recently - the other day I made supper for the family (complete with a gorgonzola brie caramelized onion tart…. oh yes) and that was a great deal of fun and stress. I suppose I still need to learn how to cook for eight or more and not get in over my head. Though, in my defense, a tornado was on its way through, so that made everything just a tad different.
On the whole, life is very good. Very busy, sometimes hectic, but good. If life had to be busy-free and hectic-free in order to be good, we might all be in a bit of trouble. And time flies… I've also been writing a good deal more (which means that I'm writing a little bit instead of nothing at all). And today I began 'Brideshead Revisited' by Evelyn Waugh. New author for me, but Benjamin and Alex both lauded it - plus I heard that there was a great BBC adaptation, so there's double yumminess in that combo!
The annual Winter/Spring illnesses have thrown the household for quite a loop this time 'round. I finally bought a big ole bottle of Vitamin C because Mr. Cold just kept coming back again. The day I no longer have crud will be glorious!
Well, my friends, it has been short - but I must skedaddle.

You are such a dear to remember the blog and update us on the happenings in your life. We enjoy it so very much. Your culinary creation sounds simply scrumptious. Somehow, stressful or difficult meals are usually the most rewarding in the end. I guess that what you put into it is what you get out of it. This past week we thought of you all when we were getting ready for a St. Patrick's Day celebration at our grandparents' house in Orlando. We made 3 -6 qt. crock pots of Irish corned beef stew, Irish soda bread, green shortbread, green punch and mint tea for about 40 Mahoney family members. After dinner we played about an hour of Irish music for everyone while some did the Irish jig. Packing the van with all that paraphernalia made us feel a little like Wolavers :). Katie and Christy got an amplifier for the guitar and mandolin the other day. It feels really weird to have a “sound system” ha, ha. :)
I've never read Brideshead Revisited. You might be disapppointed with the BBC version though. We went to watch it a long time ago, and there was so much homosexuality that we had to shut it off. I have enjoyed getting my first taste of George Mac Donald this past month with The Princess and the Goblin, The Princess and Curdie, and Lilith. They were excellent. I am now in the middle of Herodotus' Histories.

Your meal sounds very yummy. I am cooking next month and I would like to try that recipe!
I enjoy hearing what books you all are reading, especially your thoughts on the books that you read. I have been reading “The Power And The Glory” by Graham Greene. It makes me realize how much I didn't know about Mexico's history.
Life has been a good kind of busy here too. I have been sewing a Pride and Prejudice style dress, for a Spring Old English Legacy Ball. One of my favorite parts of sewing is (besides the finished product)seeing the pieces of fabric come together and actually starting to look like the dress that you imagine. Right now I am at that stage.
Besides the usual household duties, music lessons, and Spring planting I have been inspired to go a step further beyond calligraphy. I recently bought a book called “The Bible of Illuminated letters. It explains how to create the first capital fancy letters that you see in ancient texts of the Bible. I have big plans to do this. :)
We are looking forward in seeing your music video. It looks like it was fun to create. Do you know when it will be out?

Well, Briana, you were right about Brideshead Revisited. I haven't finished the book yet, but (as far as others told me) the movie was awful. I didn't watch it because I was in the midst of another book, but the little bit I did see was incredibly underwhelming. And the others were disgusted by the homosexual overtones in it.; I can't stand how BBC throws that into their miniseries. AGH!!!! Can't stand it.
Oh, you're going to enjoy the Macdonald books. They're so incredibly good. I've loved everything that I've read of his.
That's great you're reading The Power and the Glory, Katie. Camille, Ben, and Alex actually just read that for school, and Camille said the same thing as you - that she was learning a whole lot more about the history of Mexico. I would like to read it.
I've always wanted to make the kind of dress you are! It would be so much fun - and then actually be able to go to an event and wear it. I'm jealous! That should be a ton of fun.
